Her

Her

A Poem by Jordan Adkins

A giggle and a smile

She’s occupied by her timeline

But her giggle and her smile

Could keep me going for miles

I want to know all about her

What makes her sad and what makes her tick

I want to know all about her

So I learn where I may fit

As she keeps her head low

I steal quick glances her way

I wish to see the joy

That creeps up on her face

But I know it’s because of him

Never because of me

I’m caught in a web that only I have weaved

One in tangles of lust and envy

A light flickers on when I taste her lips

A fire ignites when my fingers trace her hips

I am lost in the feeling of her skin

Her flower is nothing short of extraordinarily intoxicating

I breathe in her scent on my bed while I'm masturbating

Knowing she thinks only of him

He, her true light

And I, her worst sin

When did all of this begin

And how can all of this go wrong

In love with a woman who’s in love with her man

But somehow, we all get along

I employ her

Please look at me

If only you’d see what I see

A glimmer of Heaven, she is a Goddess

Sent to be all I never dreamed I’d need

Why won’t you look at me?

I’m begging you to look at me

Give me a chance

Once is all I’m asking
