I Wear My Heart On My Sleeve

I Wear My Heart On My Sleeve

A Poem by Jade Mitchell
"

Poetry, relatable,

"

I wear my heart on my sleeve.

If I wore it on my stomach,

I would be constantly eating to fill a void.

If I wore it on top of my head,

There would be hundreds of cracks from all the times I was pushed around.

If I wore it on my tongue,

It would have dissolved from all the times I was dishonest about my feelings.

If I wore it on the soles of my shoes,

It would be easily crushed from my burdens.

If I wore it behind my ribs, where it's supposed to be,

It would have scars from all the times I've been stabbed in the back.

But I wear it on my sleeve,

Although I shouldn't because, sometimes,

Even buttons break off their blazers.
