Medusa and Heracles

Medusa and Heracles

A Poem by Honestly, Abe

She’s got a hundred sultry eyes
Flickering like old swamp lamps

Standing waist deep in still lakewater
Her spider leg fingers clutch his cellphone

Blue-glare texts light the muddy laps of waves
Like a toddler’s impressionist color book sunset

You smile in strange stillness watching the trees
Limbs waver in the wind, and she’s quiet

But only until he appears again
After the solstice, his lion’s cape draped

Around broad shoulders that fall
Like stone when she cries

WOAH! Cell phone?! ... SAY WHAT? :P This is-beyond interesting, and breaching into the extremes of uncertainty and "DAMNNNNNN!" But I digress, very magical and strangely powerful imagery, diction and syntax here!
"Flickering like old swamp lamps," brilliant and unique,
"Like a toddler’s impressionist color book sunset," creative and amazingly vivid,
"Around broad shoulders that fall
Like stone when she cries," just plain fun!! I've always been a great fan of Mythology, Greek being a personal favorite, and any tale and/or poem that encompasses that instantly draws me in, but text messaging? XD I never saw that coming! I am completely awestruck and oddly impressed! Quite the piece Honestly, Abe and honestly, you've impressed me with your ironically satirical wit. ;) Well done, indeed!!!
