Hades

Hades

A Poem by Honestly, Abe

Ashes from the cigarette
Leap from his drag
And litter the cement
Smoldering gray
The color of the blanketed sky
And when the rain falls
Like glittering glass
That crashes upon the world
He notices between sips of nicotine
How the drops hurl themselves
Upon her red umbrella, like a beacon
The exit glow in the dark
He is drawn
Like a moth
Stepping over the cigarette
Tossed now aside
(Exhausted, it glows out) and
When he looks up
The umbrella is shuddering closed
She waves it like a matador
He moves like the dark bull
Approaches            never dreaming
She would say yes
She does, and
Then it            never
stops raining.
