Holding My Heart

Holding My Heart

A Poem by Jade Mayhew

Verse

I met him at a party;

He was charming and sincere.

We talked and we clicked instantly,

No thoughts, no doubts, no fears.

Though we were together,

I never did forget

My everlasting love for you,

Born from the day we met.

My heart is yours, and yours is mine.

And I hope you'll always keep in mind

Chorus

I'm holding him, I'm kissing him,

But I'm wishing you were mine.

I close my eyes and picture you,

And love you all the time.

So help me, please tell me, just what do I do?
I feel myself falling apart.

He might be the one right now holding my hand

But you're the one holding my heart.

Verse

You told me not to worry

Cos your love would never fade.

You wanted just my happiness,

But remained a bit afraid.

But as the days passed by and by,

It all stopped feeling right.

My mind and heart began a war;

My heart won every fight.

His eyes, they lost a little shine

When I told him goodbye.

Repeat Chorus

Goodbyes are never easy

The word, it causes tears.

I watched his heart just break apart.

My fault, I interfered.

I'm letting go and giving up,

He was never truly mine.

No matter what I said to him,

I loved you all the time.

So hold me and kiss me and tell me I'm yours,

And love me til death do us part.

A day and forever, you're holding my hand

And from now on, I'm holding your heart.
