Kevin

A Chapter by Jade Mayhew

"Missy sounds like a b***h. Hot, but a b***h," Kevin stated.
I laughed and smacked his arm. "Shut up," I said. Rubbing my face with my hands, I sighed deeply. "It sucked. I don't think you understand just how badly I wanted to punch her."
"I think I do, actually." He was right; Kevin had seen me punch people before. I'd punched girls who had hurt him in the past. "Okay, so Missy showed up and he was a jerk to his mom in front of her friend and then you guys just left?"
"Basically," I replied. "I told him I didn't mind not going to dinner that night, but Jordan didn't want to go if I didn't go. And I didn't want him causing any more trouble than necessary."
"So you went to dinner?" Kevin clarified.
"Yup, and surprisingly, it went really well. His mom's friend was really nice. I forgot a few times that she was old enough to be, well, a mother. Missy didn't say a word to either of us the whole time, and she barely looked at me."
Kevin grinned. "I bet she kept the ring on, though."
"It's like you read my mind, sometimes, Kev," I said, grinning back.
    "So what happened next?"
I sighed again. "Missy didn't appreciate being ignored."
