Kevin

Kevin

A Chapter by Jade Mayhew

I was lost in the memory with a corny smile in my face. "My god, could that be anymore disgustingly sweet? I'm so glad I've never heard that story before." I reached over and smacked Kevin. "What?" he exclaimed.
"Be nice. It was cute. It was one of the reasons I fell for him so hard." Kevin smirk fell away and was replaced by a look of contemplation. "What's that look for?" I asked, leaning up on my forearms.
The look remained the same. "It's just... I don't know. If you fell for him as hard as you think you did, why are you in this predicament? Sounds like you should just stay with him."
My face flushed. "What happened to being open-minded?" I said angrily.
"I don't know the rest of the stories," Kevin replied calmly. Another reason we were best friends: we balanced each other out to the extreme. Where my temper went flying off the handle at every little comment, Kevin always stayed cool and collected.
"Well, there's some more stuff that happened with Shawn and Jordan before I met Max, and you were there for when I met Max," I reminded him.
"What happened with Shawn and Jordan?"
I sighed. "It started when Jordan's ex-girlfriend showed up."
