My Heart

My Heart

A Poem by Jade Mayhew

I feel a heartbreak coming,
But I don't care anymore.
It won't end my love for you.
Love can't be what my heart's for.

Because even when it's broken,
And even when I'm hurt.
Even when it's torn apart
And stomped into the dirt.

And even when the pain I feel
Creeps into my heart,
I know you'll always care for me
Even when we are apart.

My heart's meant to hold friendships,
Some faded, some brand new.
My heart holds all my hopes and dreams,
The hard times that I've gone through.

Your heart may not be broken,
Your love may not be true,
But just know whatever happens,
My heart beats out for you.

This is such a beautiful, giving expression of love... the kind of love that lasts through both summer and winter... Even with the painful tinge, its strength lifts the soul.
