So Soft

So Soft

A Poem by Jade Mayhew
"

Dedicated to Melody Henderson, Sam Fremont and John Mason, three people I met one summer who changed my outlook on life.

"

He stole my heart one summer night
And took me by the hand.
Mel and Sam stayed close beside
As we walked across the sand.

John and I hung out alot;
He soon became a close friend.
He said he'd love me, even if
Our friendship ever came to end.

Mel and I shared our secrets,
Our fears, our goals and our pain.
She told me life
will knock me down
But I have to get up and try again.

Sam was the one to make me laugh
When I was feeling down.
If bad news ever came my way,
He'd always be around.

The last day the four of us were together,
We watched the sun set at night,
As we sat there lost in memories,
We all felt comfortable and right.

John and Sam felt like laughing
So they pushed us in the lake.
Their laughter, there's not doubt, was real.
But their sympathy was fake.

The next day as we said farewell,
The tears fell from our eyes.
I hugged them all and kissed John's cheek
So softly, then we watched the sun rise.
