My Last Lifeline

My Last Lifeline

A Poem by Jade Mayhew

My world is turning upside down,
Problems are tossing me around,
The situations are out of hand,
And my feet are coming off the ground.

You wouldn't let me fly away.
You pulled me down out of the clouds.
It's your hand I find when I am lost
Within the pushing, muddled crowd.

But when I need you most, you're lost.
You've simply left without a care.
I go to hug you, discover your gone
And am left just gripping thin air.

You gave me strength when I was weak,
You were the one someone I could trust.
You were the one that I could always count on,
And you never left me back in the dust.

You know how much you mean to me;
I've let you know time after time.
So come around again and help me
Because you're my last lifeline.
