The girl wanted to find someone
Who’d love her as she was,
Who’d hug her when she needed it
And kiss her just because.
Someone who’d know the words to say
Right from the very start,
Someone who’d conquer everything
So he could win her heart.
He came along, so unafraid
To say “I love you” first.
But soon the romance ended and
His manners hit their worst.
This was not the prince she’d hoped for,
But from him, she did learn
Live with rose-colored glasses and
You’re destined to be hurt.
Don’t fall too fast, don’t fall too hard;
Let love be a blessing.
And from this next young charming boy,
She learned another lesson.
He made her think she was his world,
Then broke her with goodbye.
He walked away without a care
While she fell down and cried.
Another prince that came and went,
Another wasted pain,
Another broken heart to heal,
More wisdom yet to gain.
And then, this one prince came along
And made her dreams come true.
She tried recalling lessons learned,
‘Til he said, “I want you.”
He never faked perfection and
He never told her lies.
He spoke his words with confidence
When he looked in her eyes.
She found herself in love with him,
Though still a bit afraid
To fall in love meant pain for her
This was a game she’d played.
Then one day, she tells him her fears,
And this prince takes her hand.
He says, “I live to be with you;
Your wish is my command.
“I’d never want to hurt you, dear
Or ever make you cry.
The love you’ve helped my heart to feel
Is higher than the sky.
I know I’m talking crazy, love,
But from first glance, I knew
That one day you would be my world.
I’m so in love with you.
One day, my dear, I’ll marry you.
Until death do us part
I’ll never leave you on your own.
You’ve had me from the start.”
The girl allows her tears to fall,
Allows her heart to race,
Allows all of her emotions
To show across her face.
Her fears begin to disappear
As she looks in his eyes.
Reflected back is purely love
A love that never dies.
“I love you so, and you know this.
My fears have gone away.
I want to spend my life with you,
Wake up with you each day.
I want to wear a wedding ring
And tell people you’re mine.
I can’t believe I’ve found this love
My stars must be aligned.”
The prince kneels down and reaches back
Onto his bedside stand
And looks into his true love’s eyes
And he grabs for her hand.
“Forever and a day, my love,
So long as you agree
I mean each word I say to you
So please, love, marry me.”
At much long last, she found her prince,
A fairy tale come true.
If she could find her prince in life,
Then tell me, why can’t you?
