Living In A Nightmare

Living In A Nightmare

A Poem by Jade Mayhew

Did you see your friend dragged of by cops
When you were both 13?
It's a scene that stays inside your mind,
So much worse than it seems.

It haunted all my dreams at night until
I thought I'd go insane.
Because I'd never felt such heartache;
I'd never felt such pain.

I never got to see good-bye or
Say sorry one time more.
If hearts should be filled with so much love,
Then what are heartbreaks for?

You were a punk and we all knew it,
But that's why I liked you.
What started off as acquaintances
Just grew and grew and grew.

You disappeared without a trace,
Not even a call to me.
You obviously can't hear me cry,
So listen to this plea:

Stop being such a troublemaker;
It isn't who you are.
The pain that has been caused from this has
Won't just yet run afar.

So even though you're still my friend,
I'd like for you to see
How much strength I've received from this, and
You'd set your anger free.

Okay. Wow. I really don't see how you do it. Every single piece I've read from you has been stunning. Your poetry is just flawless. The rhyme, the rhythm, the emotion...wow.
Bravo.
er...
Brava.
