Blue and Grey

Blue and Grey

A Poem by Jade Mayhew

They were blue in the beginning.
Bright and vivacious,
Some even said they sparkled.

I told myself it was because of him.

But as time passed, the good
Turned bad.
The compliments
Turned into insults.
Words that once set my soul on fire
Now made my body grow cold

And slowly, so slowly,
What once was blue
Turned grey

I lost myself
I let myself
Turn grey

Until
I began to miss being
Blue
And bright
And vivacious

I missed hearing that I sparkled

The day I left, I cried
But I couldn't help but to notice
That my tear-stained eyes
Shone with the brightest blue

This is a beautiful description of heartache. A unique point of view on a very familiar subject with a hopeful ending.a short and simple pleasure
