Dream

Dream

A Poem by jacobballenger

As I sleep tonight the vision returns.
The mysterious woman for which my heart yearns.
An immortal fire, my heart eternally burns.
Speechless and breathless, I lack more than words.

She sneaks into my dreams as I sleep through the night.
I catch a brief glimpse as she's 'neath the streetlight.
She moves very swiftly, as though she takes flight.
I'm flooded with emotions; joy, hope, and strangely, fright.

She wears a black dress, red sequins, skin fair.
She has a captivating laugh, and long, sleek, black hair.
She runs through the storm, through the world, without care.
All I can do is chase after, holding to a hope and a prayer.

I hope with all hope that this woman's for me.
For I've had false hopes, loves that couldn't be.
I've searched everywhere, 'neath every rock I could see.
Looking for the right girl to offer a ring on one knee.
