What Matters Now

What Matters Now

A Poem by Jacklyn-nicole
"

Something I wrote out of the blue.

"

What matters now

is that I'm alive

that I am alive to love.

To hold the person dearest to my heart

to see the joy in my church family's face.

              What matters

is not really the thoughts but the actions.

why think about loving someone? Show them

before time runs out.

What matters now

is that I'm not afraid to love

to hope for a better future.

Love is what matters

combined with determination.

             What matters now

is that you can learn from your past

live in the present, and hope for the future.

The storms will come, tears will be shed

but what will matter is that despite

how it seems, your not alone.

                What matters now

is that I am a warrior of God.

I will not follow the world, and I will not allow someone to change my mind.

                 What matters now

is that my heart can love

and I have learned that it is alright to trust people.

           What matters now

is that I have people who love me and I'll never be alone.

Please ignore how badly written it is. I normally do not write poetry, in fact I am more of a story writer. I might still have grammar mistakes but I will deal with those later.

Ok .... I like the sentiment. I like the drumroll-like repetition of "What matters now" ... almost like a mantra. I LIKE the poem.

But ... Im a fundamentalist ... LOL ... It would forever spoil if for me, if this werent "cleaned" up ... spelling mistakes galore (I know you said ignore, but we are writers, how can we ignore, eh?) ... I would also apply consistency to the stanza spacing - like begin with a new stanza every time you start with your chorus line "What matters now" ... would make it even more powerful.

But, as I said - I like it. xxx
