Winter

Winter

A Poem by Jack...

Winter

I can hear the birds singing

But I can’t see them

Calling for the sun to rise

From dark branches scraping the sky

Full of life they sound

Perched high above the speckled lawn

Clinging to sticks, crooked and bare

Formed of countless years trying

And mistletoe nightmares

Melodies bridge the breeze

Lonely corn fields of narrow rows

And a garden of sleeping blooms

Life waiting to be reborn

To paint the landscape with color

Bringing happiness to the birds

Singing anyway on the cusp of new

The edge of beauty near

As eastern horizons wake

Grey skies still cling the heavens

I listen, quietly to this music

As if their harmonies will lift

The loneliness from my heart

Chambered worries of what will come

Pulsating rivers in free flowing vistas

Counting minutes until spring arrives

And I whisper a sad good bye

But I will return…I will return

What a deep piece you display here.

Shivered snow coats of once were pollen in a whirl, bringing up beautiful blooms. Come back I shall when frigid melts over. Sunshine painted my face at a time to 'luminated smiles. Now in the fate of stormy cold bitterness...

Thanks so much my friend. I appreciate you taking the time to read and comment.
Waiting for spring and what an ethereal way to welcome it or to coax it into welcoming arms. I'm even more impressed at the image you chose. It so abstract and it's a black women...I try to use diversity in my images and not be one dimensional...it would be nice to see it done more with other's but you do what you feel. Speaking of feeling...if this poem were in a glass I would drink it. It's gorgeous.

You most welcome, take care
You made winter seem so beautiful, I felt sad at it's departure and long for it to return.

"Pulsating rivers in free flowing vistas

Counting minutes until spring arrives

And I whisper a sad good bye

But I will return…I will return"

Every season has a different magic and you underlined that beautifully with this poem Jack.
