Winter

Winter

A Poem by Jack...

Winter

I can hear the birds singing

But I can’t see them

Calling for the sun to rise

From dark branches scraping the sky

Full of life they sound

Perched high above the speckled lawn

Clinging to sticks, crooked and bare

Formed of countless years trying

And mistletoe nightmares

Melodies bridge the breeze

Lonely corn fields of narrow rows

And a garden of sleeping blooms

Life waiting to be reborn

To paint the landscape with color

Bringing happiness to the birds

Singing anyway on the cusp of new

The edge of beauty near

As eastern horizons wake

Grey skies still cling the heavens

I listen, quietly to this music

As if their harmonies will lift

The loneliness from my heart

Chambered worries of what will come

Pulsating rivers in free flowing vistas

Counting minutes until spring arrives

And I whisper a sad good bye

But I will return…I will return

absolutely marvelous piece Jack, a very beautiful tribute to winter
I just love how all the lines come together to paint us a vivid image about winter.

The edge of beauty near

splendid Jack , Bravo.

Well you know of my affinity for the season going back to past collabs my friend, but the longevity and record-breaking snowfall amounts that this Winter has brought to most of the country (and it's not done yet) even has me shaking my head and wondering if Spring will ever return. I was a bit late getting to this one but maybe I was just meant to read it at this particular point in time. Those lonely grey-skied mornings are relentless, aren't they? I keep waiting for the dark branches to take on their buds and brush over the scrapes left behind by the barrenness of what are otherwise nothing more than wiry sticks. Mistletoe nightmares...I wish I came up with that man haha I love the holidays but if there's one tradition that leaves me nauseous, that's the one. Again you've presented a set of poetic observations that speak to me on the deepest level Jack...love this piece.

Thanks so much my friend.
Spring is right around the corner Jack and those invisible birds will appear with spring songs and peach blooms rising in a blue sky. Happy Spring my friend.

Happy spring to you Julie. Thanks so much.
I don't see winter like this but as a beautiful white purity of the snow leaves in a black starful-sky that is most beautiful to see from way up high. This is the time that the nature of life is replenished and rejuvenated...to bring with the suns warmth and love the next spring..just a beautiful. As you can see I am a winter lover and wish it were longer than it is! Good write though! I know many people dislike the cold! I am not one of them!

Yep Rita, it's almost here. Thanks so much.
Deeply emotional words, Jack. In the winter, it seems people are more likely to feel depressed and lonely. Something about the gray skies and chill in the air I suppose. Still, I feel a lot of hope in this one....hope for the clouds to lift and the loneliness to be replaced by happiness. The imagery in this one is stunning. Lydi**
