Acoustic affection’d freestyle

Finger my frets with delicate touches

Mother of pearl inlays sweat

Bending vibrating strings

Crank my volume knob high

Sliding capos moan

Play lead in poetic rifts

Soundhole oozes sensual melodies

Gouging pickguard’s scars

Wow, well I will be the first to admit that I'm not well-seasoned in musical terms (only because my hands are too tiny to learn an instrument, something I will always lament) yet there is no question as to how good this instrument is feeling...it is clearly in the right hands. But music and physical intimacy have always been a match made in heaven...I understand the connection in my mind but can't articulate it, not that I need to now cuz you've painted such a clear picture here, and I get it entirely. Here is another example of your ability to draw from your artistic diversity and bring it to the written word. A sultry and sensuous piece my friend...makes me wanna get my Fleetwood Mac albums out...they're always the group I hear in my head when it comes to this kind of subject matter...I'm not sure if there are specific groups in your mind when your write Jack, but I think the musician in you can see where I'm coming from on this one ;)

Thanks so very much Steve. And just so you know, Stevie Nicks can come sing to me any damn time she wants. I'll even provide the top hat. :) As for the inspiration for this piece, it was Xavier's e-string poem and Frieda's Fiddling g-string poem and my Black Takemine Acoustic Cutaway sitting right behind me here in my office that I play most mornings when I get here before everyone else. There is nothing better (well sort of) than sitting in this quiet office playing my guitar. The harmonics are nice and the mornings are peaceful. People often ask me why I keep a guitar in my office and I usually answer, because I can't fit my piano in here.

Usually when I write I do have some melody or song in my head, but in this case I had those two wonderful poet's work floating through.

However, I was thinking last night that I'd like to listen to EL&P's Tarkus again soon and see what that brings out of me. Always one of my favorite instrumentals.

Haha I agree on all fronts my friend, from Stevie Nicks onward. My favourite band has always been Zeppelin and that has a lot to do with Jimmy's ability to switch from his frenetic electric work to heartfelt acoustic work without batting an eyelash, and without sacrificing his rocker identity. Believe it or not, I was thinking about listening to ELP the other night...I'm sure there is lots of room for poetic interpretation in those suites. Caravan is another group that fits that mold I think, though they're more of a cult band and not as prominent as they should be.
