Sad Existence ~ inspired by David Scott

Sad Existence ~ inspired by David Scott

A Poem by Jack...

Sad Existence

It is a sad existence, that of a poet

with flowery phrases and disguised meanings

Tossing out happy faces like quarters

splashing in a wishing well with no bottom

Painting heartstrings in an amber shade of gold

lingering silver linings losing their crease

in frayed bottomed hip huggers

that are long out of style

Swishing fragrant melodies on starch white paper

collecting lines in neat rows and margin’d desires

lips fluttering and eyelashes batting

well below the leagues average

Whispering notions of sheer delight,

tantalizing rapid pulses pushing blood

through narrow corridors finding

locked garden entrances in chained Jasmine

Dreaming dreams that only a dreamer could dream

all the while knowing that when they awaken

pen in hand, ink at the ready

these dreams shall never come true

It is a sad existence, that of a poet…who believes their own dreams

Author's Note

Jack...
This poem is based on something David Scott said to me yesterday. The funny thing is his words were meant to be uplifting and positive...so how did I get this from his words? I'm a poet, silly. Thanks David (coach)

Thank you for reading

I don't know how you got this from his words. And I don't know what is so sad about being a poet. But I've never thought myself to be one.

Thanks so very much my friend.
Don't know David Scott... which means I must read his poetry... But I was thinking of that last line... and I wonder, what kind of poet we would be if we didn't believe our own dreams??? This is not meant as critique, just something this line is making me ponder more..

Liked that line about "splashing in a wishing well with no bottom.. rather ironic I would say.. lol.

enjoyable read and now my head hurts from thinking.. gotta go take a nap.. but no dreams.. lol.

Ah my favourite pasta man, he cracks the most funniest pasta jokes ever. I love this dude, he is so intelligent, not surprised he inspired this poem.

Loved this one my friend, great job!

That Scott, he's so deep sometimes and a trouble maker to boot, but you pen'd this beauty so that was a plus Jack.

Swishing fragrant melodies on starch white paper
collecting lines in neat rows and margin’d desires
lips fluttering and eyelashes batting
well below the leagues average

Pen'd in vibrant amber shades of gold, I love this one my friend.
