Sad Existence ~ inspired by David Scott

Sad Existence ~ inspired by David Scott

A Poem by Jack...

Sad Existence

It is a sad existence, that of a poet

with flowery phrases and disguised meanings

Tossing out happy faces like quarters

splashing in a wishing well with no bottom

Painting heartstrings in an amber shade of gold

lingering silver linings losing their crease

in frayed bottomed hip huggers

that are long out of style

Swishing fragrant melodies on starch white paper

collecting lines in neat rows and margin’d desires

lips fluttering and eyelashes batting

well below the leagues average

Whispering notions of sheer delight,

tantalizing rapid pulses pushing blood

through narrow corridors finding

locked garden entrances in chained Jasmine

Dreaming dreams that only a dreamer could dream

all the while knowing that when they awaken

pen in hand, ink at the ready

these dreams shall never come true

It is a sad existence, that of a poet…who believes their own dreams

Author's Note

Jack...
This poem is based on something David Scott said to me yesterday. The funny thing is his words were meant to be uplifting and positive...so how did I get this from his words? I'm a poet, silly. Thanks David (coach)

Thank you for reading

I am actually laughing a little bit.
I do believe in my dreams...
Simply believing makes them true for me weather they are real to anyone else or not...
Hmmm?
So maybe others find it sad, but it is pure bliss in the mind of those who choose this reality.
How do you want to feel?
Then why not feel it?
I will admit, there are days, nay months, nay years, nay decades I have actually wallowed in the misery oft own making. I chose it. I wanted it. I needed it. I deserved it. It was my freakin drug!
So, maybe I'm a recovering "sufferingaholic"...
My name is Scott and I'm six months sober... Ha.
Good luck and good cheer Jack.
I did enjoy the artistry of your write.
Happy to inspire your pen and help you pry it loose from the window sill. Ha.

No twinkling feet here...
Heavy my footsteps, as I make my way through the emotional turmoil that simmers beneath the surface of this piece.
I do...I do believe my own dreams...

And the Angel weeps...

You're very welcome :]
There aren't words to fully describe the true feelings one experiences when reading a piece like this, specifically this one. It seems so simple, so easy to write, easy to understand, easy to...relate to, but those that truly have a connection with it sense the inner complexities.
Great write

Thanks so much
At least if you feel sad, as a poet you can put pen to paper and feel better.
