Winter in Montrose

Winter in Montrose

White on gray this blustery realm of chilling torrent

Horizon’s blur in distant lines disappearing beyond all hope

Scattered stone on beaten shore waits patiently for the evening tides

Foamed illusions contrast with rough predictions

En mass the route curves, beckoning wayfarer decisions

Crushed dreams heave in sculling curls to the depths of darkness

Winds wreak havoc on unsuspecting bared skin

Along the edge of this oceans tempest offerings

Gun metal skies howl in violent wailing temptations

Dunes break on fervent watered sanctions

Casting off the crooked eye of pounded shorelines

As Montrose feels the swell of winter’s blowing sands

Author's Note

Jack...
My good friend Sye (Noodlehead) was visiting her aunt in Montrose and I asked her to send me some photos. She went for a walk on the beach and sent me this photo. She said it was cold, damp and the winds were very fierce that day. I decided to write a piece based on how this photo spoke to me...this is it. Thanks so much Sye for the photo.

Thank you for reading

LOL……………………………...
Jack, this is outstanding. To say that the imagery was vivid would not serve it justice. I love your stelled lines...

"Horizon’s blur in distant lines disappearing beyond all hope"
"Gun metal skies howl in violent wailing temptations"

Every line is epic. 100 stormy beaches!!
