Winter in Montrose

Winter in Montrose

A Poem by Jack...
"

Thanks for the photo Sye.

"

Winter in Montrose

White on gray this blustery realm of chilling torrent

Horizon’s blur in distant lines disappearing beyond all hope

Scattered stone on beaten shore waits patiently for the evening tides

Foamed illusions contrast with rough predictions

En mass the route curves, beckoning wayfarer decisions

Crushed dreams heave in sculling curls to the depths of darkness

Winds wreak havoc on unsuspecting bared skin

Along the edge of this oceans tempest offerings

Gun metal skies howl in violent wailing temptations

Dunes break on fervent watered sanctions

Casting off the crooked eye of pounded shorelines

As Montrose feels the swell of winter’s blowing sands

Author's Note

Jack...
My good friend Sye (Noodlehead) was visiting her aunt in Montrose and I asked her to send me some photos. She went for a walk on the beach and sent me this photo. She said it was cold, damp and the winds were very fierce that day. I decided to write a piece based on how this photo spoke to me...this is it. Thanks so much Sye for the photo.

Thank you for reading

This is perfect Jack ~ I knew you would be able to write something that blew me away. Everything about this is perfect. I loved it so much. It may have been cold and windy and horrific but I loved it and after getting this poem and reading it made that day a whole lot better.

Well done Jack!

Thanks so much my friend. I am thrilled you enjoyed this. The photo was magical to me.
I love the vivid description. I especially like the last stanza. That is very strong. I feel as if I'm sitting on a rock at the scene, wrapped in a jacket, just absorbing my surroundings.
Very nice!

Well done. It reminds me of when Japan got hit this was exactly what I experienced in Hawaii because they too became engulfed. Japan got most of the news as Hawaii islands got shut down. I remember watching the news that night and this is what we saw

You pen'd the dreariness of this one to so aptly, I actually love days like this by the sea. I really like that last stanza...

Gun metal skies howl in violent wailing temptations

A perfect description Jack...

Where is our wee noodlebumble today by the way?..........

Thanks so very much Frieda. I haven't heard from her all day. Maybe she is down at the beach fightin.. read more
I don't even like to think about this. I don't want the gray skies here to "howl in violent wailing temptations..." And as for "winter's blowing sands..." that almost hurts.
