Said the shadow to the tree

Said the shadow to the tree

A Poem by Jack...

Said the shadow to the tree,

“You know my friend, life is not always fair

Take this vine of fingered grip

Tentacles of timid meaning

Holding you close as to not let go

Filling each bark split void

Offering a feeling of need and want

Given time it will engulf

Block the sun light

Tighten in mass fury

Wrap itself of everything you stand for

Then when strength is gone

And you topple to the ground

This vine will happily move on

To the next tree

While you rot

Returning to the earth,

which once gave you life”

The tree replied,

“But it feels so good to be wanted”

The sun set and the shadow was silent

The tree wanted to be loved and would risk damnation for it, much like human beings often do.
What a beautiful metaphor, and wicked lovely way of writing.
Well done! ^^

No problem!. ^^
A very deep message, a naked truth, how clearly and simplified way you could convey, simplicity and authenticity, human nature combo, really enjoyed

Thanks so much Brittany. I really appreciate you.
This is incredible, Jack! I love the metaphor! How we desperately cling on to something that is not good for us and will not be there for long simply because we're lonely and wish to feel wanted. We've all been there at some point in our lives. And we've all ignored the warnings of the ones closest to us. Exquisite poem, well done!

Ooh! I love this wonderfully imaged tale, Jack. Wise indeed to love one's purpose, even when naysayers have their say.
