Concrete Peaches - A collaboration - Frieda and Jack

Concrete Peaches - A collaboration - Frieda and Jack

A Poem by Jack...

Concrete peaches

Endless seams of knotted hopes

Collecting ‘neath orchard dreams

Rows of fruited illusions bloom

In aromatic cadence, even in winter’s silence

Leafless branches tease misty skies

producing unrealistic temptations,

easily within reach of desperate fingers

willing to harvest heartaches by the bushel

Trudging through fields of broken promises

knee deep in splintered divisions of trust

devotion doesn't grow on trees

it needs to be carefully nurtured

Shedding layers of old decaying bark

reaching for the sunlight in the dark

acceptance olive branches under cover

twisted roots have sapped their luster

and all that remains are concrete peaches

weighted words of fuzzy meanings

shallow breaths on succulent breezes,

free-stone mutterings of faded descent

LOOOVED this piece. You both wrote this... couldn't have been a better collaboration. Sweet juices off the tongue, phenomenal. Like a Van Gough, a worthy masterpiece.

HAHA, you bet it is. But this IS good therapy. ;o)
Collaborations can be tricky, but you and Frieda weave your words together so beautifully it is impossible to tell the poem was written by two poets.

I love the entire poem, but the last verse is my favorite

and all that remains are concrete peaches
weighted words of fuzzy meanings
shallow breaths on succulent breezes,
free-stone mutterings of faded descent

Do either of you know how good you are??? This is absolutely brilliant!

This is very nice and the collaboration of two poets is dear here. I love this write and the detail inside it. Truly, a sweet poem with depth and clear thinking involved in the writing of it.
Your partnership in this is talented and makes it shine.

That is wonderful that you and her can work so well together.
Jack,Frieda I have been sitting on the side lines watching and reading with great enjoyment of both your poems and Frieda's plus your recent colaboration. I think that those who cannot produce good poetry only try to put down those who can. We khow who we are talking about. Good work, great talent, and good people. have a great new year to both of you.

This is a masterpiece. You are both extraordinary poets for being able to seamlessly interweave your own poetic lines as though it were written by one person.

Happy New Year and thanks muchly Rose. :-)
Frieda and Jack, your words blend so perfectly, I can not even guess who wrote which lines. The meaning is lush and filled with rich emotion. Lots of regrets in this write of “weighted words of fuzzy meanings.” When the new year approaches, we weigh the events of the previous year, think through the unrealistic expectations we created for ourselves. Why do we set the bar so high? We have to erase the slate though (Shedding layers of old decaying bark” to move onward and upward. The future awaits....and I hope that future holds many more collaborations between the two of you. Wonderful work. Lydi**
