Lost

Lost

A Poem by Jack...
"

Losing someone close is losing everything

"

Lost

Lost without direction

Empty as that crumbled pack of Marlboro lights on the ground

Lonely, a single towel on the line to dry…in the rain

Wasted like left over pudding in the sink strainer

Shredded, an unimportant document in the wrong stack

Destroyed in a crumbled mass of quivering stone

Crying beneath a flowing river rising

Torn apart, a ticket stub to a missed concert

Scared half to death with the other half waiting

Cowering within each breath I no longer want to take

Fractured like grandma’s Hummel found by a wagging dog’s tail

Dead, wearing a disguise of the living…and a poor one at that

Desperate to know that which I won’t

Lost without you

Thank you so much Tammy. I always appreciate when you come to visit.
This was heartbreaking. It's terrible when the only person you love is suddenly no longer there. Very raw and emotional poem, Jack

Thank you so very much my friend.
Wow Jack. This is deep, raw and emotional. I have written about dark times but you have captured this so well. The loss is projected well in this piece as is your heartache and sorrow. This line I love;

Crying beneath a flowing river rising

This one line sums it up for me Jack. There is no end to sorrow in this one line.

Masterful work.

Troy

Thank you so very much Troy. I truly appreciate your kind words this morning.
The sorrow and grief on this piece is a dark and as deep as the abyss. Pitch black and bottomless . A void that no one could ever fill. As they often say that " Time heals all wounds "... when is all up to the heart of the person who carries and bear that grief and burden ...Very deeply illustrated .

You just seem to be speaking my language these days my friend. There are even lines in here from which I can derive my own memories. The first thing I thought of for instance was when my grandmother died in '04...I had a ticket for a concert that night and had no intentions of going, but my family insisted that she would have wanted me to go, and they were right. Not a very enjoyable night though obviously. The image of a single towel trying to dry in the rain was particularly jarring. I'd never thought of it that way before. The emotion is more than palpable in this painfully powerful piece. I think it will awake different memories in whoever reads it.

No matter how down your subject matter is I love reading your lines. You have captured so clearly the pain of loss here and may it help the healing process perhaps and exorcise from you your bad feelings.

Thanks so much Leigh. I am trying...believe me, I am trying.
I've been widowed twice and many of the lines you have written in this poem is quite the way I have felt at times...I have faith, however, that the desperation will lessen (It actually has) and I will know more than I do now...although I think there is just so much knowledge and what we do with it is really what is most important...poetry writing is an excellent way to rid of and change feelings...enjoying your writing...

Ouch, Jack, this is painful and not an easy thing to feel....the desolute emotion here is heart wrenching...however alone we feel, it helps to know we are not alone...have a lovely weekend dear Jack! x
