You smiled first

You smiled first

A Poem by Jack...
"

I lost a good friend today

"

You smiled first

then so did I

~

I said hello

and you said hi

Now you are gone

I sit and cry

~

You smiled first

I said goodbye

It is hard to grasp that those we love are only lent to us for a short time. It's a hard lesson to learn...

This is profound and eloquent, and so endearing to the memory of your friend. You should frame it and place it somewhere in your house where the sun shines upon it every day.

Take care, my friend!

I like this very much Jack.
You give the poem a playful tone and a little bit of rhyme as well.
I think when sadness must be faced, it is better to face it in the eyes with as much grace as possible. You did this very well here.
I'm sorry for your loss.

What a heartfelt poem here Jack that left my heart in pieces. I am so sorry for your loss and any pain that you are feeling, it is never easy to say goodbye to someone. Your poem is a lovely dedication that says so much in so few words. Was a lucky lady to have a friend as dear as you. A simple smile is all it takes to start a beautiful relationship, which you undoubtedly shared with this dear person. My deepest sympathy my friend.
