Weight...wait

Weight...wait

A Poem by Jack...
"

Friendship lightens the load

"

Weight…wait

Fantasies of cobblestone pairings, cracked and scattered

and wheat field decisions, looming large

now rest on my shoulders

like moss on a stone

~

Clinging tightly to each inch

of north facing skin

while never really noticing

that east is my direction of choice

~

So much it seems piles on,

dirty laundry on the bathroom floor

disguised beneath damp towels

 only to add more weight

~

And I lift, not knowing if I will fall,

crumbling beneath this load, drunk of the massive pain,

yet I find the ground is much softer, a bed of posies

since you wait for me, and help me to stand

~

Guiding hands comfort, shading the sun from weary,

tear stained eyes, brushing back vines, tangled and thorn’d

revealing that nothing is ever too much

when a friend is near

Great imagery in this one--reminds me of the Asian poets I studied in my Asian Literature class in college. You might like them... although I forget their names... they were the more classic poets. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks so much my friend. I always enjoy hearing your take on my poetry.
Love can lighten any load, be it the love of a good woman or just a good friend who you know will always be there for you. Good imagery in this well penned piece. ~ Robert.

Yes, having people to care about you and care for you does lighten the load. This one touched me.

Friendship is a weight we choose to burden ourselves with, we carry it through thick and thin if we're lucky enough to find the right friends, always so much heart in your poetry Jack, another amazing read....

I like the title for it is clever and the poem is a great tribute for the weight of friendship. But it is a weight worth carrying and a sacrifice worth making...A splendid one...:)
