Weight...wait

Weight...wait

A Poem by Jack...
"

Friendship lightens the load

"

Weight…wait

Fantasies of cobblestone pairings, cracked and scattered

and wheat field decisions, looming large

now rest on my shoulders

like moss on a stone

~

Clinging tightly to each inch

of north facing skin

while never really noticing

that east is my direction of choice

~

So much it seems piles on,

dirty laundry on the bathroom floor

disguised beneath damp towels

 only to add more weight

~

And I lift, not knowing if I will fall,

crumbling beneath this load, drunk of the massive pain,

yet I find the ground is much softer, a bed of posies

since you wait for me, and help me to stand

~

Guiding hands comfort, shading the sun from weary,

tear stained eyes, brushing back vines, tangled and thorn’d

revealing that nothing is ever too much

when a friend is near

My heart wants to go east, too - maybe we could carpool. ;)
Other than that, I don't think there's much I can say about this beautiful piece that hasn't already been said below. Another wonderfully relatable and well-written poem, Jack. :)

Thank you so very much Lily. What time do you want me to pick you up?
we wait to be with the friend who will help take the weight of the world off our shoulders...

sometimes the laundry can wait...talking can wash away some of the blues...and we can spin dry them from our troubled mind...with the help of the attentive ear.

Yes Jacob, my friend, you are correct. Friendship is magic in my book.
The comfort of comradery, the feeling of having a chum you can always rely upon, and the solace provided by friendship is so strong in this poem, Jack. There is nothing like having a close ally in life, is there? Anything is possible when you know someone has your back. Your metaphor is great. This is a compassionate and loving write....one that is going in my library! Lydi**

Tantalizing are your descriptions of the lifting qualities of a friend who helps you through the muck and mire. Your friend in words, Pete

I have been out of town, just back in my office this morning. I will stop by soon.
Friends offer so much support, Jack. How would we ever make it without them? You written a very heart-felt poem. Very well done.

This is a lovely image of friendship, Jack. Even the rockiest ground is softened by the love of a true friend.

Thank you so very much Rita.
I am tempted to say..She aint heavy she's my washerwoman......But that would be taking away the sheer brilliance of your writing Jack....Love can indeed lighten any load...Happiness shared is happiness doubled..Trouble shared is half the trouble

Beautiful lines in this Jack. Metaphor and imagery are very well spoken and placed. As always your writing is outstanding. xo Rose
