Dark

Dark

A Poem by Jack...
"

Sadness is a dark and lonely world

"

Dark

I can feel the empty loneliness, the dire sadness in your words

Black on white letters arranged in sorrows indelible font

Tear drop tense in flowing cradles of desperation

sad eyes of whys, question mark patterns

on stark gray silk, neatly pressed

offered no one in particular,

a butterfly necklace

weeping on skin

fading slowly

into the

dark

~

“I fell and my eyes could not see,

you were gone and my heart shattered”

~

dark

gloomy

skies drip

memories from

charcoal rain clouds

flooding emotions on the brink

blinding the sight of anything good

dancing on the broken stoop of splintered

dreams and broken hearts clinging barely to breath

screaming to invisible heavens and gagged reasons lost

somewhere beyond the here and there, where she does wait

I can see the little flying thing take shape here, Jack. Sadness and lonliness make up her wings. She does have wings, though. Lovely poetry, mister. Angi~

Thank you so very much Zahra. Your kind words are always appreciated.
I read this a few times last night, and it left me speechless and brought me to tears, I still have no words to articulate how affecting this was Jack, so all I'm left with is you've touched my heart in more ways than you could ever imagine ....always dear friend.

Thank you so very much.
First of all, I love the hourglass shape and the verses paused in the middle allowing the reader, nay, daring the reader to let themselves dare to read on until the dire end of sorrow and despair. This was extremely well put together. I loved the colorful and imaginative use of your wording to describe every moment. Well done!

A butterfly or should I say flutter-by, that seems to be the popular term nowadays. It is a beauty even without the special formatting, we'd all like to think we have someone waiting for us...however unlikely it may seem, but who could express it so tenderly other than Jack or perhaps Frieda. Beyond well done I'd say!

The imagery you consistently employ is just amazing, Jack! "broken stoop of splintered dreams" and "cradles of desperation" were two of my favorites in this write. The shape poems are not easy to write. Sometimes they read a bit forced, but this one flowed easily. A dark write, but I found hope at the end of your poem. A wonderful piece of writing. Lydi**
