And so it goes...

And so it goes...

A Poem by Jack...
"

You are my sun and my moon...where are you?

"

And so it goes…

another sun, another day

Lost to the horizon’s constant appetite

for all that this sky above may hold

Thin and straight, never-ending, swallowing the beauty

that waits for us as we look up

only to follow the minutes

ticking away as fast as the journey

I have come to determine

one night sitting on the front porch

counting fireflies and missing you,

(tearing up for my impending daily loss)

that this place, this narrow slice at the end of this earth

must surely consist of multi-colored liquid

For the splash made by the sun

is more vibrant than anything I have ever witnessed

Staining the western heavens

with pastel swashes of glowing patterns

until the wash fills with shade and is

hidden by a new moon glow

and so it goes

another moon, another night…without you

Thank you so much my new friend.
The longing for someone special...
You have made another breath-taking poetry here, Jack. Though it is full of sadness, the beauty of this piece still the one that captivates the reader's attention.
Great!

You're welcome, Jack. :)
So good to be reading you again, my friend. I quite liked this piece. It shows the depth of your delving spirit which observes and then questions in an apt manner. I feel the yearning and the pangs of visceral desire to simply...know.

Great stanza...this shows such beautiful imagery and emotion woven together into a tapestry of poetic indulgence.

Thank you so very much Sarah. I am always happy when I see you have reviewed one of my poems.
Hi Jack, nice to meet you!

The longing here is heavy, like a winter coat. It could apply to a lost love, or even the death of someone. Sitting on a front porch alone conjures up such melancholy feelings for me, as well...but you've penned these so beautifully. My hope for you is that there are better days ahead!

My best,
Kelly

Thank you so very much Cassie.
This is so sad yet so beautiful. I love the line, "swallowing the beauty." It captures the angst that is part of our lives no matter what beauty floats around our fingertips.

The feeling is mutual sweet Frieda. Can't wait to lose myself in a few of yours. Thanks so much.
I lie awake sometimes at night...listening to passing cars, watching headlights...almost...almost, I can convince myself that those headlights are slowing down, preparing to turn into the driveway...he's on his way home!!
But then, reality hits me again. No...he's never coming home again.

Beautiful, sad write, my sweet, romantic friend.
