A Basket full of wishes

 

 

I took a basket full of wishes

Placed them at your heart

In hopes that you will use them

Whenever we’re apart

Make each a little special

These wishes will come true

So take your time to figure out

Exactly what to do

Just one thing if I may ask

I hope that it can be

That you use at least one wish

And wish you were with me

We've all felt unrequited love. You can't express it much better than this. Wonderful rhyme and meter (the kind of poems I write) and centering the lines almost makes the poem assume the shape of a basket.

Hi Jack. A beautiful write about this gift of wishes given to someone you hold dear. Heartfelt and romantic. Flow and rhythm is smooth and lyrical. Excellent enjambment. Rhyme is good as is the rhyme scheme. Perfect masculine end line rhyme in lines 2,4,6,8.10 & 12 that is executed with precision. Lovely depth of feeling, so sweet and loving. Well penned and a most enjoyable read. Write on!

I really enjoyed this one, Jack. Loved the rhyme and rhythm (I'm partial to poetry that rhymes). The a-b-c-a-d-d scheme that you utilized for this, too.
