This is so touching Jack. I work as a companion to seniors and I've lost three of my ladies. I also took care of my grandmother in her final months. It makes you think about time and how it keeps moving along. Yes we wish for more then we will probably have. But its using our time wisely that will allow us to leave this world in peace.

So true my friend, so true. Thanks so much for your kind words.
Sometimes when we play a game and enjoy it, we want to have an extension of it. As they always say, life is a game...it has a beginning and an end. But what shall we feel when we see that the end is near?
Even I could plea for more minutes to enjoy life.
This is another heartrending piece, Jack.

Thank you so much for your visit and your kind words.
Reminds of a poem I wrote months ago "Ten Minutes for a Lifetime"... written during a scary trying time. We always want more with those we love - a few minutes, hours, days... just more - of every moment to BE. Life is so short... appropriately and accurately stated my friend.
Always, your kind words thrill me. Is the poem posted, I don't recall reading it?

You have missed much in the ages past, Jack. I will see if it is something I'm willing to post again. Many from ages ago will not come back up on WC.
A universal sentiment - a wish for what can simply not be. By its very nature, everything has an end, and even if we were to get those "few more minutes", we would only want a few more after that...
My students, as we come to the final days of the school year and fearing 8th grade, are asking "Can't we stay here just a little longer..." When my father was diagnosed, we asked for "Just a little more time" with him...
This piece has me thinking of the times throughout and at the end of Life that leave us wanting more - and I think that is the great gift Life gives us - to want it more, to want more of it...
Wonderful poem, you have made me feel.
A few minutes more...I hope that's what I'm saying when I'm ready to check out. Though some days I doubt it. This is a great poem. I love how you draw the parallels throughout life from childhood to adulthood. There are certainly moments that we would all like to linger in. Well done.

That is the way to do it though, find people who share similar intrests, short stories etc, read their stuff and review. If you like what they do ask them to be your friend. You'll have a huge list before you know it.
We don't get a few more minutes, when your time is up, C'est la vie and ciao bella, that's it...I guess that's where carpe the hell out of that diem comes into play! This is reverberating on the page right now for me...thanks for writing and sharing this one Jack.

Thanks so much Frieda. I know, and time seems to be moving so quickly anymore.
Time is too short! Better not waste a second of it, Jack. If you have something to say to someone, better say it while you can. I better do as I say, too. Angi~
