Spinning

Spinning

A Poem by Jack...
"

Missing a lost love

"

Spinning

It is midnight

As I find the door closed…slammed

and shadows of what once was

disappearing down the drive

into the dreary nightscape so barren…as is my heart

It is 1:00 am

The fan… it hums,

affixed its ceilinged perch, spinning,

spitting a constant flow of sorrowed air

upon my unguarded skin…sifting my soul

It is 2:00 am

My eyes are open, wet… stained,

still staring at the spinning blades,

counting the blur of rotation,

finding it difficult to focus…on anything

It is 3:00 am

My mind is another place,

far from the undisturbed side of the bed,

monogrammed with your absence,

hand-stitched in loss and sadness

It is 4:00 am

I clutch your pillow,

inhaling your scent,

feeling the folds encase me

in down…which I feel, though not as soft

It is 5:00 am

The alarm clock startles me,

as my heart re- breaks…and

my eyes form their  tortured

river of tears, falling upon my already saturated place

It is 6:00 am (the sun is rising)

I miss you…desperately

Been there. Felt this reading all the way through. I don't know how we lift ourselves out, but eventually we do. Slipping back from time to time, but not as frequently, into the loss. Tears come further apart, but still come, nonetheless, until (maybe) one day you realize you're not shedding a tear when thoughts flood. Loved the poem!

Time...is on my side...yes it is!
Wow, my whole heart just became dislocated. I felt this one, could even hear the fan blades whirring, the pain is palpable in this read. You squeezed every last ounce out of that loneliness that invades throughout the night. Awe inspiring read Jack...going right on the shelf. 100/100

The whole lost love leaves in the heart creates and echo of loneliness that will drive a person insane. I felt the pain get deeper in every verse.

Thank you so very much
Heartache and insomnia go hand in hand. This is a powerfully wrenching write, Jack - finished with a shuddering sigh...

Coincidentally, I was just listening to Melissa Etheridge's "Unusual Kiss", which also separates stanzas by late night times, about a decision in love that led to regret.

You brought your emotional A-game to this, Jack.

Not bad. Some of your imagery is a little stale and I'm not really a fan of the 'times' throughout the piece, but I do think that you have a clear message and that you've stuck to it throughout the piece.
