The Perfect Place

The Perfect Place

A Poem by Jack...
"

My idea of the perfect place

"

The Perfect Place

A cool and whispered morning breeze takes my mind away

To a place where maple trees provide the perfect shade

Refreshing like a valley stream, a peaceful easy pace

Cutting through the country side a journey long to trace

A hammock so inviting stretched between two perfect trees

The music of the birds combined with buzzing honey bees

The softest grass beneath your toes that you have ever seen

A perfect summer day as in each other we believe

The sky a magic shade of blue like painted there by hand

Clouds so meek and wispy create shadows on the land

Nothing much to do about the troubles of the day

Place your cares aside for now and leave them where they lay

Napping as we swing together cushioned by the air

Gracefully we sift along with only love to share

A pillow made of silk will sit beneath our sleeping heads

And anything that might create confusion leaves instead

Roses in the garden seem to smile at our pace

The sun it peeks between the leaves so warm upon our face

A caterpillar slowly makes his way across the grass

Within our private heaven as we watch the day flow past

A lazy Sunday afternoon, such a sense of peace

The quiet is the furthest point that either one can reach

For in the shade the coolness breathes as time it slips away

The setting sun is soon to come; the spirit of the day

Comfort found within my arms as only offered you

We watch the glow descend to earth with nothing else to do

Dusk does touch us as we rest in shades of matted grey

Just close your eyes and lay with me and we will fly away

The dreams that we have painted sit adorned within the scene

Precious moments shared with you are everything they seem

Watching you just lying there a smile on your face

Constantly reminds that this is the perfect place

Raven, your kind words have made my night. Thank you so much
Hi Jack,

This bucolic setting you've created is absolutely dreamy! I can feel the breeze and smell the roses all the way up here in Boston. You do nature and love proud.

This one puts the YOU in YOUtopia. This couple has been happily married for some time, and have found their perfect balance with each other. I'd almost bet that they have grown kids, maybe in college...maybe even grandchildren.
What an idyllic piece.
Thank you for sharing it with me.

You could be right my friend. Thanks again.
Yes it's really nice to have a utopia. Or a place to just relax and meditate. I used to think everybody had one. Turns out it's only the people who have any depth to their characters! :P
Your descriptions breathe out serenity and tranquility. Nice work!

Well, this does sound like the perfect place! To be honest, I couldn't actually tell you what my 'perfect place' would be like.... I am so picky and change my mind like the weather, hehe. :P

This stanza was to die for, I would say that would definitely be in my 'perfect place' along with loads more. The imagery in this stanza was great.

I love that image right there. This poem is saturated with summer and the intimacy of close companionship - those idyllic times when you can just bask in the day and the company of one you love.

Thank you so much Dhaye. Your kinds words are always my peace.
I still don't know how you do it, come up with piece after piece of rhyme that blend with such ease, I hardly realize I'm reading rhyming poetry. Amazing...this is such a pleasure to read, need that hammock, like right now!
