Very apt observations here Jack. Sometimes we must turn off the news and put down the paper to see what life can truly hold. Beauty...love and hope. There is still good in this world....remembering that is the key.

You are correct my friend. Thanks again for visiting.
My fingertips,
blackened by
the soot of disdain
and the pompous dull spastic paths (sprinkle glitter here)
of the rich and famous,
thumb through
the day before
Truth charts a path
to the opinions of others,
only to take a back seat
in withered form
with the classifieds (maybe) and notices
of death of those we don’t know
Tragedy blooms
in profits of many facets,
filling the needs of the
editorial wallets, (and bank accounts)
bulging of despise
WOW. this is right on the money. It amazes me what is "newsworthy" and what sells.

Thank you my friend...not everything we read is the truth, just someone's idea of what the truth sho.. read moreThank you my friend...not everything we read is the truth, just someone's idea of what the truth should be...as long as it benefits them. Thanks so much for your always kind words.
I like it. I format and the prose are are serious but not dark, kind of that "extra, extra, read all about it" vibe. And I like the last line because it drives home the meaning to it all. "Smiling is a lost art" That's how I feel every time my husband turns on the news. I hate the news its feels like all the joy has been sucked out of the room. But it's your headline. And you intentionally put it last. Great job!

Thanks so much Kristin, I feel like you do about the news...it is destructive to the mind.
Tragedy blooms is a perfect description of profiting from the misery of others, be it the newspapers themselves, or the celebrities that sell their stories of loss to be in the news once more. And when exactly did what so and so wore to this or that become news? Isn't that what the enquirer is for?
Wonderfully expressed here Jack. The last lines say it all.
This is a great piece. It tells it like it is. I love the format and the imagery. It makes me think of evil little men putting terrible things in newspapers and throwing it to the masses who gobble it up.
Not much to tell about me, I am just Jack, I am a poet, a writer, a musician, a painter, a builder and a dreamer. I live in south Texas but am originally from New Jersey and miss it more and more all .. more..
