The Ghost of John Lennon

by jack

Imagine I am here

I’m something you can see

Distortions ever clear

The eggman floating free

In psychedelic bubbles

Like Lucy in the skies

All fantasies will double

Right here before your eyes

Hear lonely heart’s a playing

Along strawberry fields

The nowhere man is saying

"I buried Paul" is real

This tour a magic mystery

There’s nothing much to fear

My death may be my history

Imagine I am here

Cool. I saw the Beatles live in Houston many moons ago. Also saw Wings with Paul McCartney and Linda here in SA. It was sad to see John Lennon and George Harrison leave us so soon.

Not bad. This is a fitting tribute to Lennon and it's very clever of you to use the references to all these Beatles songs - manages to provide a strong backbone for the piece. One note - second to last stanza, last line, I'd put quotes around 'I buried Paul'. Other than that, well done.

Thanks so much. That makes sense and I will make that change.
wow, this is a nice little tribute to John. I like how you intermingle famous Beatle songs into the stanzas, and it has a nice arc to it.

You begin with perhaps Lennon's greatest work "Imagine" (which is also a command almost), and you end it with "Imagine" - The format is very clever.

And sandwiched between is the eggman (see what I did there? lol), Lucy, lonely heart
s club, strawberry fields, magic mystery tour, nowhere man, and Paul (who he'll always be linked to).

None of it sounds contrived either, but rather flows easily.

The end makes me somewhat nostalgic, and I wasn't even a hippy, so kudos. I guess what I'm nostalgic for is an artist like Lennon.

Very nice, Jack. Channeling the energy of John Lennon, keeping it alive. I saw a documentary not long ago. I was fascinated. Started listening to some of his solo work I had never been exposed to. In short, I was moved. Thank you for sharing

The last stanza is stunning especially the last two line. This is a great write. The creativity with using songs is brilliant.

Love the pic and the poem. I cried the day he was killed. Just senseless...felt so sad for his son. He was so talented and an inspiration. Great writing Jack!!
