Once more for a friend

 

Again

If I could find a way

to turn back

time

I’d pick you,

yesterday

to see what we could find

 

Perhaps a wondrous setting

somewhere like Belize

Sandy beaches,

tropical

if this

your mind would ease

 

Stepping through a portal

looking in reverse,

penning something

quickly

in the form

of verse

 

Over-pack your luggage,

forward all your mail

You will find

an island waits…

Together

we will sail

 

If I could only find a way

to give the clock a spin

Set it back,

by just a day,

we’ll do it all

again

I think it's better to put the past behind us and focus on now. Leave all the bad memories and stuff behind. We learn from mistakes but going back to the past will bring up all those memories. This is a great write, Jack. Speaks volumes with so much honesty. Although, some memories are worth holding on to.

I'm pretty sure that there is no person in this world who wouldn't like to turn back time at least once. We all have something we wished we did, or wished we could relive again. Beautiful poem, Jack. I like the way you put together the stanzas. It's unordinary, but it draws the attention of the reader. Well done :)
