Hallucinations

Reminds me of my younger days

Hallucinations

By Jack Ivey

Is it there or is it not

Before my eyes a deluge of inner thoughts converge

Broadcast on an open plain

For lack of words to feign its impossible meaning

Does it dance or does it walk

Upon a stair cased flowered veil to deceive

Brilliant the light does mimic

In effervescent golden silhouettes

Will it scream or will it sing

Only time will fill the feast with ample solutions

Listen close as mornings find us

Sleeping on empty cartons of a desperate phrase

Does it live or does it die

Within my mind the scattered illusions come to bear

Of endings soon to find their path

In freedoms born of cascade truths on darkened city streets

I was immediately reminded of Shakespeare with that first line (To be, or not to be). "Does it dance or does it walk" really like that line.

Thanks so much E. Just playing around with some weirds thoughts.
This piece made me think about words. Trying to focus them make them do what I want to do. In the end, they just don't cooperate with me sometimes. I am left asking the very questions you penned, Jack.

Just some things rolling around in my mind. Thank you.
I like this one, it dances around in a confuding array of images that must indeed reflect how hallucinations appear to the beholder.

A difficult one to interpret. The melody is haunting and as a mental health professional I was seeking literal hallucinations. Perhaps the kind of visions we have when we look at life and wonder.

Just some abstract thoughts that passed through my head. Thanks John.
I enjoyed the deeper context, vague renderings that let us decide what it means to each of us reading. I felt a dark place that brings the character to the brink of madness, hopelessness close at hand. As they say, it is darkest before we see the light. I felt that in this piece.

Breaking out of your wheelhouse a bit with this one - I love the dark imagery, the ominous undertones. I am still wondering...

An aside - I always look at the dates a piece was added; the last two poems of yours I have read - one was posted on my sister's birthday, and this one on my husband's. Am I hallucinating? ;)
