City StreetsA Poem by Jack...The city may sleep, but my thoughts of you never will
City Streets The city sleeps, yet still I walk Reflections of your smile Do follow me like shadows dark In silhouettes of life A’ weave, the blend of endless time Abound in treasured throws Lost moments found of images My mind has come to know These patterns of an open sky In dance within my pace Bring to my heart a tempo’d dream Of love I can’t replace Along a misty avenue The street lights lend their glare Soft puddles formed of capture tears A chill does come the air This sidewalk bears my leathered steps To places I have roamed For in my world there’s nothing less Than all that I have known Beyond this waking moment seen In silence it shall ring A melody of tested truth Your voice to me does bring Oh but a touch to quell my soul A gentle calling kiss Shall carry me this darkened stroll And lead me from the mist As I have seen so many things Of multiple supply In windows stained of long ago Reflections ask me why Though somewhere in the distance Astride these buildings tall I hear the echoes of your heart To me forever call On pavement damp and darkened Yet there a light I see The beacon of your beauty Is reaching out for me I run with all abandon A blur descends my eyes In reckless drawn of fashion I wipe the tears I’ve cried For I can see the sunrise Neath foggy skies above These city streets once desolate Now filled with your sweet love © 2013 Jack...Author's Note
