A Tear Drop on a Rose

By Jack Ivey

For here I stand amongst the garden

Vines along the gated path

Songs of never left forgotten

Blooming in the aftermath

Where I find a life is stolen

Soft the air of fragrance pure

Lush within this fertile garden

Beauty I shall see no more

Butterflies I long to beckon

Float as if they need me so

Shadows weep on perfect hedges

Happiness I used to know

Winds of change now come to greet me

Whispering their sad refrain

To the sky, what is the meaning

Shall I ever know again

Lonely now my scented feelings

Rooted in the dark abyss

Memories now send a message

Looking back on times to miss

If by chance you walk this garden

Here where every flower grows

I have left a quiet message

In a teardrop on a rose

You have decorated this poem with such beautiful words all the way through, which makes each stanza stand up on its own.

My pleasure.
How I wish I could "fix" every heartbreak, there are days when the dark is bleak and others when it's shining, we learn to roll with the waves and tear drops. beautiful poem Jack.

I absolutely love how your poems flow so freely, there is a great sadness and loneliness in this write and it has an almost wistful quality to it. Love it.

Welcome. :)
I made this review template so that I could easily and efficiently give feedback to other writer's, since there's so many pieces and so little time in the day (or so I'm told) here you go. Feel free to add me and ask for reviews!

Not Applicable may be chosen if it's a poem and not a short story, or if the category is not to my liking for personal reasons. If this is chosen I will simply leave the answer blank. I will try to be as unbiased as possibly when reviewing your work and try to keep it to the "normal" standards when reading a piece. I am reading this more as a person with an interest in reading than a person in writing. Some times though my grammatical sense will pop up ahead of my enjoyment. I encourage every one I meet to keep writing, even if it doesn't go anywhere I find it very important to pursue fiction as a means of life. This is solely based on my opinion but I will try to give advice to the best of my ability/knowledge. Good luck writing!

Many times I have tended the rose garden and been captivated by the beads of water standing on the velvet bed of a delicate scented rose petal. This poem capture the beauty of sadness. Often sad pens despair. This one is simply an honest expression void of self indulgent pity.
I loved the write! A healthy admission of loss.

Gut wrenching in its sadness and meancholy, but beautiful nonetheless. you have captured the moment as surely as if you had photographed it.
