Hummingbirds

Hummingbirds

A Poem by Jack...
"

A love poem upon many tiny wings

"

Hummingbirds

A hummingbird in magic flight

Appears to you this summer night

Turquoise shades against the sky

A' shimmer as it flutters by

The nectar of its beauty sings

Through rapid dance of tiny wings

This random path of mystery

With brilliant balanced harmony

Gracefully it hovers there

In front of you atop the air

Hold out your arm and it will land

Upon the softness of your hand

For you see, this little friend

Is here for me, so I may send

All the love I have for you

To carry on its wings so true

Though too small, this bird you see

To carry all the love from me

I came up with a different course

I need to double up the source

So to the skies I sent out word

To find another hummingbird

It soon arrived without delay

To get its mission underway

I told it of the plan I laid

I should have known, needless to say

Still these two were way too small

This duo could not carry all

So I did what I had to do

To send out all my love to you

I pulled from here, I took from there

I gathered up from everywhere

I finally had enough support

So all my love I could export

That’s why you’ll witness on this night

A thousand hummingbirds in flight

For I have so much love for you

One little bird just wouldn’t do

It took the many birds above

In flight to bring you all my love

Ah, this is one of my all time favorites. Thanks for finding this and I am so happy you enjoyed it.
I think I, Irene said what was in my mind when I finish savoring this beautifully thought piece . To pause and take our time to appreciate nature and other tiny things that others sometimes take for granted and paid little attention . Its takes great knowledge to understand what each living creatures role in these vast world and great wisdom to pause and appreciate it . If I will take every words, thoughts, and motives from each paragraph and place them in a weighing scale, I, Irene and I both have the same conclusion about this beautiful piece ~ BALANCE ! One of the greatest virtues in life was not left out in this poem ~ LOVE !

Thank you so much my friend.
Jack this moved me so profoundly I could never truly explain it but I am going to try. My sister was called Hummingbird by her high-school boyfriend.. (from the song hummingbird don't flay away) They eventually got married and had four children in 6 years... In 1983 November he was killed in an horrific accident. All her life raising the four children she thought perhaps she felt him there helping her watching her as she alone was mother and father.. About ten years ago she went to a friend who dabbled in card reading and tea leaves.. She told her that she always had this feeling he was there... The friend told her to talk to him... Tell him you need a sign if he is there and if he is satisfied with the job you are doing with the children.. (8 months through 6 yrs at the time of his death)....

She did just that... that night she spoke to him.. told him how much she would always love him and that if there was any possible way for him to contact her please give her a sign.. the very next morning as she sat on her patio a hummingbird lit on the decoration hanging above her table.. just 3 feet from her head... She could not believe her eyes and named the hummingbird Kay-Lee (both of their middle names).... She had coffee with this hummingbird every morning while it built a nest.. eventually laid eggs, fed new hatchlings... Coincidence?? That's what i thought except for one unexplained thing.. The day the tiny hummingbird babies left the nest my sister video taped them.... We were all in shock when we watched the video ( a brand new never opened VHS tape was used)... As the humming birds left the nest and the parent birds left last you hear a voice on the tape. It is a tiny little voice that says "you're my reason for happiness more and more and more...??????????????? I swear this is true.. I dont usually believe in that sort of thing.. but I have seen and heard the tape and there is no explanation.. she had no neighbors was home alone the tv and radio were off.. The tiny bird like voice along with the birds flying away left me breathless.. True story.. thank you for reminding me how strong love can be.. xoxo Rose
