And a child went forth

And a child went forth

A Poem by Joℏn / Jack / Turtle / Kurmasana
"

Poem about growing through relationships / #6 / 1990-91 (high school)

"
And the child went forth,
And he discover’d
Infatuation crossing his path;
It led him along for awhile,
Teaching him shame"
Teaching him fear"
Teaching him"
Nothing, for he did not learn;
He went his own way
And sadden’d, travell’d on.

And the child continu’d on his brick road,
And he met up with Commitment;
And he was led to Its house,
Where he stay’d awhile,
And in that safe prison, he stay’d longer"
For It was teaching"
Teaching him isolation,
Teaching him jealousy,
Teaching him"
Nothing, for he did not listen;
But learn’d by himself;
And Commitment left him for Loyalty;
But he found another down the way.

He found a path with brighter beams
And clearer shadows;
And he found Love,
Dancing Her way"
And Love found him,
And cheerful, laughed;
And they held each other close;
And they spun around and around,
And as they danced in a circle,
She showed him how, and why"yet still"
She could not embrace him;
So they kissed,
And danced away.

And the man went forth into the world,
And walked cruel Day,
And slept kind Night;
And under the Moon he forever dreamed
Of a time when he might dance with Love again.
