To willingly share our pains and victories with another, via the medium of poetry, benefits the writer two ways: She may just help out a person in a similar situation to find, if not an answer, at least a road to clarity, and, she has made of her pen and paper, or her keyboard, a surrogate best friend, one with whom she can weep, laugh, exult or just complain when the fleshy one is absent. There is no better way to heal a wound than to open it and let the infection out. Poetry can be that scalpel. Good job, sweetie!
(P.S.: I just did something really dumb! After reading your reply to my review, I went back to the review to see what I had written. I saw it printed on your page TWICE, so I decided I'd erase one of them. I'd failed to notice that one was "My Review" and the other was the "Featured Review"...SO THEY BOTH WENT AWAY!! I recreated it as best I could. It's not exact, but, well...Another lesson in Acting Rashly, I guess!)
Nice to show and share past and present times in memories these treasures could be lost forever if not exploited or told amongst friends and family, bonding experience. Yes poetry is on of the best ways to so expression. As always keep writing fellow writer.
Don't know how I missed this lovely write but am so glad I found it today. This is a wonderful truth for most poets, we write from our hearts the joy and the pain and in doing so, we touch other hearts. For me, writing is good therapy so much of my inspiration has thus far been from heartaches and grief. Very nicely penned Annie, my friend. It says a so much about the heart of a poet.
Sharing poetry of our memories is the sharing of a part of us, who we are, our hearts and soul. Memories are a product of our emotions that's very important to us. If they weren't important, they wouldn't be our memories. We would forget them. Wanting to share is an opening of your heart to others. All poets do that. God gave us all the ability, but some may never use it. Thank you for sharing your heart Annie.
Love...Liz
Poetry and life defined. We can't take anything to the grave but as a poet to share your gift among other people and writers is a blessing. Some opinions are just that opinions. Some are due one day to be fact. You have created a fact with this poem. Congrats and thanks for blessing me.
"By sharing our memories.
From childhood to old age,
Wonderful stories to tell."
Is this not the universal desire of the writer? So wonderful in its simplicity.
"Leave them behind.
For remembrance sake.
Don't take them to the grave.
What a waste it would be."
Our greatest legacy to loved ones and to mankind "our words". What we did and what we said are the footprints of our lives.
I'm just a novice in poetry. English is my second language, I was born and educated in France. My paintings are on the back burner for the moment. I love this site and enjoy writing (If I can call it .. more..
