The Face behind the mask

The Face behind the mask

A Poem by Justin Stull

A face Unseen to mankind

Afraid to reveal himself and be blind

this face was once seen long ago but it was ripped

bye the others that were known

A face covered bye a mask of protection

Shielding itself from mass resurection

stunned bye the feeling given

many times and now wishes to be hidden

a mask of time covereing the face of truth

wishing for someone to take it from inside the cucoon

a mask used in fear of pain protection used to hide the

cantankerous pain a face no one knows it became extinct

and is now unkown

the face behind the mask may be beautiful may make you gasp

but untill that day arives i suggest u try to pry the mask and learn what is on the

inside.

It's often easier for us to hide behind masks we devlop in order to protect ourselves. We give others a particular way to view us, thinking it'll be more acceptible than the scars that may linger beneath. The problems with masks are, nobody truly ever knows us, and they can be hard as all get up to remove once they're in place. Sometimes we even fool ourselves, often we're the first to see these false facades as we shape them into existence. Never give up though, I'm working on the same problem myself. We need to trust that others will accept us for exactly who we are, that these masks won't cause us more pain. I really liked the first two lines of the poem, it drew me right into the piece, and the way you related your story kept me reading through the end. Great job on this poem Justin.
