How Could You

How Could You

A Poem by Erica Nichole

I’ll never understand why I put up with you

Why I listened to the things you told me

Why I let you do the things you did to me

I’ll never understand the sick person you are

Beaten, broken and torn apart from the inside

Time after time you done this to me for no reason

Sat back and watched me fall to pieces from the words

Left me with bruises and many open wounds, how could you?

I can’t understand why you would do something like that..

Your own flesh and blood, someone you gave birth to

How can you just abandon me, watch me struggle

You have no heart, no conscious, you don’t feel any pity

I’m not part of you; you’re nothing to me anymore

I’m fine without you now, please stay gone forever

You’ll just add more scars, bruises and marks to me

I do not need you here with me, you are nothing

This is really powerful, strongly written, and frankly it broke my heart. Wonderful writing.
