Field of LilacsA Story by EvilIsRelative
She idly wandered through a field of lilacs, twirling and dancing in a slow, absent minded fashion. In her wake there was no trace of her passage, not a crushed stem or bruised petal to be seen. This was due to the fact that her light, carefully placed steps hardly brushed the plants in their meandering movements. Although, it would not have mattered had she plowed through the delicate plants with reckless disregard for their well being, the result would be the same. For nothing ever changed in this field. Not the bright dawn-tinged gray of the sky, nor the ring of trees standing always just on the horizon. The girl did not question this. She had no memory of anything other than this field, no knowledge that anything even existed beyond the flowers and the trees and the sky. There was no hint in the air of anticipation, nor boredom, nor any other feeling to signal a desire for change, but simply peace. As beauty cannot be without a concept of the undesirable, time cannot pass without change to mark it. None of these things existed in this field, it just simply was. For you see, this field is eternity, and the girl, well, the girl is the catalyst of what could never be, and what should never be.
