I’m always there Always watching Always looking in Always the thing you see for moment But then won’t admit I exist
I hide in plain sight Though nobody looks I try to look like I live But it doesn’t work And everyone knows They just can’t admit it
I was born to be alone In that fact I find no pain But looking into lives I see what I could gain Staring in the window I stand out in the cold And wonder what life would be like If I wasn’t truly alone
I find it kind of amusing When they say that I have friends That they count themselves among them Is laughable at best They say that they really know me I don’t have to stand in the cold Like they wouldn’t put A knife through my back The second got old
And thought I may be a shadow Alone and in the cold I’ve still got it better than you “Cause I don’t have a soul
You do. We all do. It a matter of if they matter to anyone or not. Would that anyone be God, a fellow person, or a martian. People don't like to admit somebody else is better than them, they don't like to see what another person thinks when they don't understand it. If anything, that could give you at least a positive spin on being alone.
