Rainbow after RainA Poem by A poet's heartIt’s time for me to thank you for the pain that you did bring, I really am now grateful for your debilitating sting, I appreciate that long monsoon of misery last year, As now my skin’s like leather from the thorns I had to steer.
I’m stronger now than yesterday, greatly more so than back then, I’m wiser than the child I was from all the way back when, My skin is thick, my heart still soft; the way that it should be, Today my character is stronger, I'm a better me.
So future self, you must know, that always things work out, Life may be hard, but one day, you’ll turn and scream and shout, For you’ll see the dots, you’ll understand, the reasons for your pain, You’ll be happy for that old monsoon for there’s a rainbow after rain. © 2013 A poet's heart |
