Melancholy

Written while listening to Chopin.

Beautiful melancholy,
Your wrists so pale;
Thin wisps of energy,
You tremble beneath
Cold skin;
The outline of your heart
Both warm and empty;
Delicate like a ballerina
As you balance
Ever so slightly on the tips;
Twirl into the night,
Leave your little hand behind,
I’ll dance with you,
We’ll leave the stage together
And enter the night.

Thank you. I never got much feedback on my poetry. It's really nice to get some from other writers, especially since I'm quite self conscious that many are just not good enough. I'm highly critical of anything I write.
