Operation

Operation

A Poem by Nicole Gurney

I’ll cut you piece by piece

Slowly and precise.

Each cut counts.

The bleeding won’t stop

The pain is setting in.

Is this what you wanted?

This is what it has turned into.

A puzzle of mislead love and devotion.

Loyalties have been laid behind enemy lines.

There’s no turning back now.

I’ve ripped you at the seams,

I won’t be stitching you up.

Your heart pulsates in my hand

…you never used it in the first place.
